3 cups rolled oats.
1-2 1/2 cups of seeds/nuts. 1/2 cup of each.
1/3-1/2 cup of honey
1/2 cup olive oil
1 tsp sea salt
- Preheat oven at 300 degrees.
- Measure oats, nuts, seeds into a large bowl of honey and oil.
- Stir till well mixed.
- Spread on baking sheet.
- Bake for 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes.
- Cool granola on the tray before storing it.
I used flax seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, walnuts, almonds, macadamia nuts. All in edible size pieces. Add in raw nuts together with everything else to bake. If the nuts are already toasted, add them after the baking. If not they will get burnt.
I always eat the granola with yogurt and honey. On occasions when I feel like a sweet treat, I sprinkle it over vanilla ice cream.
Watch the bake closely. Different ovens bake differently. My first batch was burnt, though I set it at the recommended temperature, because my oven is old and the thermostat was a little off. Honey burns easily. The baked granola won’t be crunchy right after baking. The granola will set and harden as it cools.
Chocolate Granola Bar: Melt down 70% cocoa dark chocolate and drizzled all over the granola. Wrap and cool in grease proof paper to pack one for the road.
